PAGAN PRIDE ATTENDANCE GROWS FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT YEAR
Visibility Increases Despite Challenges, Personnel Changes
In a year filled with change for the Pagan Pride Project growth was still the dominant theme. This year's Pagan Pride attendance broke 40,000 for the first time, with 44,833 people attending Pagan Pride events in six countries. In addition, Pride events collected almost 30,000 pounds of food and almost $10,000 for local charities - excellent numbers given charitable giving overall is down due to the downturn in the US economy.
Changes for Pride this year included the resignation of Pride creator and longtime Executive Director Cecylyna Dewr, who will remain on the board but is on a two-year leave of absence. Dagonet Dewr, the former Membership Coordinator, is now the Executive Director. Brian Ewing has moved into the position of Membership Coordinator, aided by Duane "Ravenspirit" Marshall, who is Pride's new Reports Coordinator.
Pride would like to express our deepest respect and thanks to Cecylyna, as well as to longtime Upper Midwest Regional Coordinator Sylvan Silvernight, who will be stepping down sometime after the first of the year.
The window for 2005 Pagan Pride events runs from August 27, 2005, to October 4, 2005. If your area does not have a Pride event and you would like to step up and volunteer as Local Coordinator, check out http://www.paganpride.org.
